Traditional Persian medicine, which is derived from the culture of Iran and Islam, is a complete and dynamic medical school that views the world as a wonderful and created system of the Creator, and entitles the physician as SAGE for his mastery in various sciences and understanding of universe. Iranian traditional medicine is a valuable legacy left over from the wise efforts, scholarly research and valuable experiences of thousands of scientists and sages of the past, especially the 1400 years of Islamic civilization, not only in the past but also for today and tomorrow.
Today, in modern medicine, we are scientifically dependent on others. Economically, the money we pay to them to buy drugs or to buy their licenses is a huge amount. With the revival of traditional medicine, both of these dependencies will be reduced to a minimum; not only will a significant amount of the country's currency be prevented from leaving the country, but due to the cultivation of medicinal plants and related industries, useful productive work will be created in the country, from rural to urban areas. Diversity of climate and climatic characteristics of the Iranian plateau is so great that many types of rare medicinal plants grow in this land, and without a doubt, with the prosperity of medicinal plants, some of them can be exported.
Another social consequence that benefits everyone from the revival of traditional medicine is the cheapness of this medicine. With the revival of traditional medicine in many cases, expensive medicines will be replaced by packages of cheap herbs, and this is a point that does not need to be explained too clearly, and the effect that reducing treatment costs can have on all sections of society, especially the low-income classes is obvious.
With the establishment of traditional medicine, in addition to training an assistant physician in traditional medicine, it is possible to train a significant group of general practitioners in short courses. Now, with the help of God and support of the esteemed senior officials of the system, after many years, the gates of entering the legal field of education, research and provision of traditional medicine services have been opened to a group of selected intellectuals of our Islamic homeland. The establishment of the health center of the faculty and the creation of interdisciplinary disciplines such as traditional nutrition, traditional nursing and midwifery, management of medical manuscripts, and etc. are among the programs offered by the Faculty of Traditional Medicine of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.
